Stoke Climsland Parish

WW1 Memorial Project

As stated previously, the names of those killed in World War I are mentioned on two memorials in Stoke Climsland - the main memorial in the centre of the village and on a memorial plaque within the Parish Church.  Photographs of both of these are given below: the main memorial on the left and the church plaque on the right.  Each of the names is hyper- linked to a page containing the personal information that has been discovered about that individual

There are differences between the two lists.  The church plaque includes G Brock and there are variations in the spellings of some of the names.  Getting the correct name of the serviceman concerned is not just a common courtesy.  It also ensures that the correct person is being researched, amongst the many others who may share the same name.   Additionally, the churchyard contains the grave of Richard Stidwell, also killed in World War I.  Bearing these facts in mind, the following are the names investigated in our researches.  As above, each name is hyper-linked to the personal details we have been able to discover.
