Alfred Bassett was born in Stoke Climsland on 5th November 1877, the son of Harry and Eliza Bassett.  The 1881 census shows Alfred living with his parents and 2 sisters (Lucy and Annie) and two brothers (Richard and Harry).  Alfred's father's occupation is given as an inn keeper.  Was the inn the Half Moon Inn in Stoke Climsland?  In the 1891 census, Alfred's father is a widower.  Alfred, who is now 14, is living with his father and three sisters (Lucy, Annie and Mary) and just one brother, Harry.  A copy of the full entry for the 1891 census is given below,Bassett Family 1891 Census for Stoke Climsland
