Friends
of Stoke Climsland Parish Church It is not religious, is separate from the congregation and many members do not attend church. Money raised is for the upkeep and improvement of the historical building only and cannot be spent on anything religious. Anybody who cares about maintaining and improving our Parish Church as a local historical building can become a member for a nominal sum of £10 per family. In return, you are kept informed on all events and receive a 10% discount on your ticket. Look out in the Parish Magazine for details of our Spring AGM and why not come along to find out more. The organisation raises money in three key ways: - the subscription of ‘friends’ - year round events run by other bodies and individuals; for example the Bridge Club hold an annual tournament each year and the proceeds go to the Friends - the major fund-raiser of the year is the Whiteford Music Festival. Not only a fund-raiser, the Festival also aims to showcase local talent and provide great entertainment for the whole community. A
major improvement paid for by the Friends was the church lighting. So, thanks to the money raised, we can now see the village,
the church perched at its centre, even at night. Can
you help? It takes many people and their talents to put together the Music Festival; from help with publicity and leaflet distribution, to stewards, raffle ticket sellers, ticket collectors, bar and catering staff, lighting, sound, production, accountancy and secretarial support. Whatever your talents, we are always delighted for any offers of help. If you feel you may be able to spare a little time to help with next year’s festival, then please call Kathryn Carnegie on 01579 370187, or speak to one of the other committee members. We will be delighted to hear from you. |
